CHARACTER NAME; Serah Farron
AGE; 21
CANON; Final Fantasy XIII-2
CANON POINT; The Void Beyond, after Academia AF 4XX, and after her solo battle with Caius
FAMILY TYPES; Virus Busters, Deep Savers, Jungle Troopers

APPEARANCE;

Serah is slender and petite in build, with the same distinctive pink hair as her older sister, Lightning. Unlike Lightning, however, Serah wears her hair in a ponytail tied off to the left side of her head. Her blue eyes are of a darker hue than Lightning's. She is never seen without the engagement necklace given to her by her fiance, Snow Villiers, around her neck.

PERSONALITY;

At first glance, Serah is quiet, but selfless and easy going. She possesses a high degree of smarts and intelligence, but is largely humble about it, never flaunting it for show, nor fretting over it when the chips are down. She is quick to help others, even those she is not immediately familiar with. To that end, she will do everything and anything to help a person resolve a problem, even if at the end, she cannot provide the utimate solution to that problem. So long as she knows there's at least something she can do to help, Serah gives it her all. This kind-heartedness helps Serah to connect with others fairly quickly; she's not quite the life of the party, but also far from being reclusive. She's somewhat self-conscious about how others percieve her, so in conversation, she tends to assume a diplomatic, pacfistic stance, making her appear passive and timid to those not familiar with her. However, this is balanced out by the fact that when the situation calls for it, Serah is unafraid to face things head-on with little hesitation. Humorously, it is for this reason why the her students in New Bodhum jokingly nickname her 'Meanie Miss Farron.'. Once determined, Serah is undeterred by anything; she faced Caius by herself when stranded in the Void Beyond, with only her magic, her monsters, and an invisible version of her Moogle companion/weapon Mog for aid. When she's in this mindset, many others, including Noel, note that she greatly resembles her missing sister, Lightning. In other words: don't piss her off! Lightning's influence on her during much of her early life enforced this aspect of her personality; in addition, the tumultuous events of XIII have since taught her that there's no use wallowing in a situation and bottling up you feelings----there are times where you must act rather than think.

Serah is fiercely, almost stubbornly, devoted to those she deems important. This serves as the basis for her great sense of fortitude, especially in regards to her bond with Lightning. As they lost their parents at a very young age, Lightning essentially raised Serah, instilling in the latter a strong sense of independence and self-sufficiency, but conversely isolating her at the same time---Serah sometimes comes off as naive because of this; she was quick to place her trust in Snow upon his comforting her after she reveals her status as a l'Cie in XIII despite the actual brevity of the situation, and she basically follows after Noel, a complete stranger, at the mere mention of his having encountered Lightning---through time, no less. Lightning herself committed so fully to protecting Serah that, at times, she would push Serah away in frustration, which ultimately drove the two apart throughout much of XIII, when Lightning mistakenly thought that Serah lied about becoming a l'Cie as an excuse to elope with Snow. Despite those hurdles, Serah's strong attachment to Lightning is especially apparent when the latter mysteriously and abruptly vanishes post-XIII. Serah refused to simply resign herself to everyone's belief that Lightning had either been crystallized alongside Fang and Vanille or outright died; she maintained faith in her memories of what had happened after the defeat of Orphan---Lightning was indeed present, and very much alive and smiling with the joy that the two sisters were reunited. Serah upholds her beliefs and convictions with the utmost candor, never wavering even when signs point in less favorable directions, maintaining optimism even when faced with seemingly insurmountable odds; when she learns from Caius that her death is assured should she keep changing the future, Serah insists on seeing her fate through.

No obstacle steers Serah away from her loved ones; not even time, nor distance. Lightning wasn't the only one who vanished from Serah's life; Snow did as well. But for Serah, they are with her in spirit, in her heart, and because of that, she never loses faith in them. She refuses to give up, and chooses to keep going for their sake, even as fear and doubt are a constant presence throughout her journey; she wants to save them as they saved her three years ago.

Life without parental figures has molded Serah into a calm, level-headed, rational, and resourceful person. Serah dislikes saddling others with her problems, and goes through great pains to avoid doing so if circumstances allow for it; admittedly, this is a double-edged sword, especially where friends and loved ones are concerned. During XIII, in order to prevent Snow from getting tangled in her fate as a l'Cie, she tries to sever ties with him in an effort to both deal with the problem on her own and protect him in the process. Come XIII-2, this hasn't changed in the slightest. Upon learning that she possesses the same precognitive abilities as Yeul, she initially tries to hide it from Noel so as to not worry him. In short, Serah tends to internalize any troubles she might be dealing with, only letting her true feelings show with enough in the way of persuasion, or when the stress of internalizing proves to be too much. She is very empathetic towards others and the events that surround them, which is also a double-edged sword. She is not immune to self-doubt, nor despair, nor frustration. She sometimes expresses doubts about finding Lightning, feels helpless when she witnesses Yeul's death, and flips out indirectly at Hope when his proto-fal'Cie Adam proves to be a pain; ultimately, this is what makes her human.

Serah exudes an inner wisdom and maturity, both of which have carried over from her experiences in XIII. Despite being saddled with the knowledge that her journey may end in her death, Serah soldiers onward, accepting her fate with no hesitation or complaint, not even in her heart. So long as her loved ones are safe, and happy, she has no regrets, no matter what the outcome will be.

THIRD PERSON;

She should've been dead.

That is the thought that has never left Serah Farron's mind since arriving at Terminal Tokyo. As of late, she's taken to the habit of going to Roaming Park to think; despite the endearing sight of the Digimon frolicking underneath the bright blue skies and the warm summer sun, Serah can't help but shudder at th memory of Caius' ominous warning and how he brutally impaled her through the back with his sword.

You bring yourself closer to death.

Serah puts a hand to the spot in her chest where Caius' blade pierced her---where her heart beat steadily---and could still feel a dull, but lingering sense of pain. She swallows.

Terminal Tokyo is clearly a completely different place from Pulse, and obviously, in a different time period than her own and all the others she'd traveled to with Noel and Mog. It intrigues her, however, the juxtaposition of the fantastical aspects of the Digital World made real---the overgrown forests and the arid deserts---and the mundane aspects of the real world---the city, its buildings, and how simplistic and humble it all is compared to the brightly-lit, heavily-automated metropolises that were Cocoon, and Academia. In that, Serah finds some comfort. After dealing with the pesky Adam, Serah didn't want to see heavy technology for a while. She knew Hope's heart and intentions were in the right place, but that just bordered on blasphemy.

She's worried about Noel and Mog; soon, both of her hands are clasped in front of her chest. She might not have died, but what of Noel? Had Caius gotten to him next, seeing as she was spirited away here before he could finish the job on her? She knew Noel was strong, and she had faith in his strength; they wouldn't have made it as far as they did were that not the case. He wouldn't go down without a fight, but...

For Noel to die alone...Serah huddles into herself a bit. She can't even bring herself to visualize it. Yet, she's here and he's there and she has no way of even finding out how he's doing and---

---There is also the matter of Lightning, who was still nowhere to be found, even though by now, it felt like Serah and Noel had been traveling through time for ages looking for her. What if she really was dead?

The dull pain in Serah's chest throbs a little harder, and she squints her eyes shut.

She wouldn't even be able to bid her goodbye.

But then Serah shakes her head. No. Wallowing like this was what got her into trouble when she was younger. She wills herself to raise her head, resolve seeping into her eyes.

She had to keep believing. In Noel, in Lightning, in herself. To falter---to give in to resignation---gave Caius the upper hand.

And Serah couldn't allow that. She wouldn't.

She looked at the Digivice in her hand, waiting to be put to use.

I have to be strong. For them. For everyone.
